Thursday August 21, 2008: Sullivan Striders Club run/walk back at Frontier Meet at Frontier between 5:30&5:45pm. Afterwards we will share a snack and discuss the Falling Colors race. We will be discussing the sharing of responsibilities including, sponsors, race day volunteers, start and finish line assistance, food and more. Please get involved for a great cause. In 2008 we gave out $3200 to 6 deserving seniors.

Sunday August 24, 2008: 26^thAnnual Woodbury Country Ramble 5K Race, Health Walk & Ramble Scramble 9:00am. 12 & under Ramble Scramble at 9:45am. Central Valley, NY. A great combination of grassy fields, quiet neighborhood roads and groomed woodland trails with a fast finish on the track. $15 pre-registration by August 18th, $18 day of the race and $3 for the Ramble Scramble but get a T-Shirt for $15.00. Monday(Labor Day) September 1, 2008: The 2nd Annual Fleet Feet 15K – Run into Buffalo Start time is 9:00am at Niagra Square - Buffalo, NY. Printable registration form in Adobe(PDF) format. The inaugural 2007 race provided Brooks training shoes to every high school cross-country athlete in the Buffalo Public School system. This year the goal is to reach student athletes of need across Western New York. Saturday September 6, 2008: 31st Annual Summer Road Racing Series Race #6 - Sam Elpern ½ Marathon 8:00am start time. Fox Run School - Norwalk, CT. Entry fee is $15.00 for Half Marathon. Pre-registration for first 5 races accepted by mail through June 12th or accepted on June 14th prior to the 1st race. This is race 6 of a 6 race series. Sunday September 7, 2008: 2nd Annual Walk The Race 3K 10:00am Holiday Mt. Ski Area - Bridgeville, NY $8.00 through August 31, $10 thereafter. Our address is: Sullivan Striders - PO Box 702 Rock Hill NY 12775. There will be course spotters on the USATF Certified (Guaranteed Accurate) Course #NY-07073-JG. Split points are marked at 1km, 1.5km (1500 meters, which is the turnaround point) and 2km. It will be at the discretion of the spotters to warn and if necessary, disqualify someone if they deem them to be running. Printable registration form in Adobe(PDF) format. Thursday September 11, 2008: 9/11 International Freedom 5K Run Start time is 0700 at Camp Phoenix running track Camp Phoenix - Kabul, Afghanistan. Thursday September 11, 2008: 4th Annual Lederman Children's Center 5k Run/Walk Race start at the Slingerland Pavilion at Spring Farm on the Mohonk Preserve - Mohonk, NY..Kids Races: 5:30 p.m. start – free One Mile Kids’ Race: (Age 12 and under) starts at 5:45 p.m. - $5.00 5k Run/Walk: Starts at 6:00 p.m. - $15.00 Onteora Runner’s Club - $14.00 Public Servants (police, firefighters, EMT’s, etc.) $13.00 Students - $12.00. Come enjoy the scenic course, fantastic post race meal, and great race events for kids. This year their will also be a silent "dessert" auction. History: On 10 Nov 1775, A Corps of Marines was created by the Continental Congress. Since then, Marines pause to celebrate the birth of their illustrious Corps and honor America’s sons and daughters who willingly make sacrifices in defense of and service for our great nation. Saturday September 20, 2008: 5th Annual James C Burns Memorial 5K Run/Walk 9:00am Milford Ball Park - Milford, PA. James C Burns was a local scout master in Milford, PA who passed away in 2001. His family initiated this event to raise money for a scholarship awarded each year to a scout who is a local high school senior. In 2007, two $1000 scholarships were given out. Sunday September 28, 2008: Pfalz Point Trail Challenge 10 Mile 9:00am Mohonk Preserve, (near New Paltz) NY. Registration starts at 7:45am. Entry fee is $20.00 for Preserve members, $25.00 for non members through September 14th and $30.00 for all thereafter. The Pfalz Point Trail Challenge is a popular 10-mile trail race held on the spectacular trails and carriage roads of the Mohonk Preserve near New Paltz, NY. The race is a benefit run to raise money for the Mohonk Preserve, the non-profit organization dedicated to protecting the beautiful Shawangunk Ridge. Proceeds to benefit Wallenpaupack fm Church's Children's ministries. Awards to top 3 overall and in each age group. Walk and run will have awards as well as all participating children are guaranteed an award! Sunday October 12, 2008: 2nd Annual Beaverkill Mountain Road Races - Half Marathon, 5K & Kids Fun Race. Registration 8:00am Kids Race 9:00am ½ Marathon and 5K at 9:30am. 5K USATF Certified (Guaranteed Accurate) Course # NY07079JG (course map) & Half Marathon USATF Certified Course # NY07080JG (course map) measured by Brian Cavanagh. Start/Finish at the Beaverkill Valley Inn, Lew Beach, NY, only 15 minutes from Livingston Manor or 30 minutes from Monticello. Run registration includes a special Beaverkill Valley Inn breakfast spread. The location is beautiful and scenic. As for the course, think of it as the Roosa Gap Roller Coaster's "Big Sister"; it is flat in the early and later miles, has a big uphill and downhill in the middle. The uphill is longer (5 miles) but not as steep (4 per cent as opposed to Roosa Gap's 10 per cent). $40.00 to register for the 5K, $60.00 for the ½ Marathon & kids race $20.00. All proceeds to benefit the Beaverkill Valley Fire Department and the Catskill Mountain Keeper. You are also invited to raise money outside of the registration fee. Circular course up and over forested Shin Creek Road. The Beaverkill Valley Inn will offer a pasta dinner the night before. Course support, medals and t-shirts to all registrants. Saturday October 25, 2008: Run Walk For Our Future 5K (3.1069 miles) 10:00am, Fallsburg Jr/Sr High School - Fallsburg, NY. Rain or shine. USATF Certified (Guaranteed Accurate) Course # NY-08044-JG. Last year, tasty ziti and other goodies were enjoyed courtesy of Tony's Family Restaurant in Wodridge. Runners and sponsors of this race have raised tens of thousands of dollars for the Student Government Association's scholarships for Fallsburg Central School students, two of whom are currently attending Harvard and Yale. Entry fee is $5.00 for the highly anticipated "Battle of the Clubs" challenge.
